# NeuralRack Notes ## UI - What is the difference between a pedal and an amp profiler? - Why are the sections labeled "... Profiler", not "... Profile". I am loading a profile, not profiling an amp, am I? - Where do I get amp and pedal profiles? Tooltip and/or button to open tonehunt.org or a dedicated web site for NeuralRack users. - Nothing happens if I (double) click on "None" in a selection field in its initial state. It should open the file selection. - Which one of the buttons to the left opens the file selection? Not obvious. Better icon? - Why is the left-most icon in the selection fields in the bottom section different? - What does the right icon (with the down/up arrows) do?. It toggles something, but what? Tooltips? - What does the switch in the upper right do? Label? - What is the bottom (gray) section for? Label? What am I supposed to load there? Probably impulse responses, but I'm not sure. - Why are there two identical selection fields? Maybe for left and right channel? But which is which? --- - I later realize that clicking in the profile/IR name field apparently cycles through the files in the same directory and "None". - Same for the mouse wheel. - Clicking on the down arrow on the right of the name also lets you choose between "None" and the files in the same directory. - So three different ways to do the same thing. ### EQ - What is is the unit of the dial values? - How useful is the 16 kHz band? Most adult humans don't even hear in that range anymore. - The state of the on/off togle button is visually unclear. When is it on, when is it off? - Are these all peak EQs or are the top/bottom bands shelve EQs? ### Pedal / Amp Profiler / IRs - Why are the "Input", "Output" and "Gain "L/R" dials at the center position by default? What value does that center point represent? What is the unit and scale of the values? - The lowest value still lets a very audible signal level through. - That means that you can't fully turn off the IR signal. --> Make the lowest value -90 dB. - What is the signal routing for the IR section anyway? Parallel or serial? ### File Selection Dialog - If I accidentally double click, instead of single click, on a directory, I get a confusing "Please select a file" error dialog. - The starting directory for the file selection dialog openened by the second IR selection field should be the same as the one of the first selection field initially. - The file name extension filter is case-sensitive. I can't see or load files with a ".WAV" (instead of ".wav") extension. If I try to, it unloads the previously loaded file, but no new file is loaded. ## Features - MIDI control for stand-alone version. Maybe program change on different channels could switch files in different sections? - Save/Load presets for the EQ section. - Output gain for EQ section. Would make it easier to compare when toggling EQ on/off. - Add a noise gate with one threshold dial. - Add a compressor with one amount dial.
